“Civil-Military Coordination is the essential dialogue and interaction between civilian and military actors in humanitarian emergencies that is necessary to protect and promote humanitarian principles, avoid competition, minimize inconsistency, and when appropriate pursue common goals. Basic strategies range from coexistence to cooperation. Coordination is a shared responsibility facilitated by liaison and common training.” (OCHA)


The Kabul Civil-Military Working Group is a key forum for discussing issues between Humanitarian organisations and the military and visa versa. A wide range of organisations are normally representated including: ISAF, CJTF-82 (the US Division from the East), US Central Command Tampa, NGOs, Embassys and the United Nations.

The Civil-Military Working Group will normally be held on the last Thursday of each month.
